Week of Jan 17 in review

I started this week with great optimism and high hopes.  I was planning my visit to the Virginia Historical Society and I had a smile on my face.  Then Monday came, and I was brought low by a stomach bug my kindergartner had brought home the week before.  I was sick and achy and had a fever.  I am not a good patient, by the way.  My daughter got it next.  I felt better on Tuesday, but was still feeling the effects, and had a sick, whiny teenager at home.  My husband was next on Wednesday evening.  There was hope on Thursday, all the kids were in school, and then… one more down for Friday.  On more kid to go, and it will have hit everyone in the house.

I was so ready to get back full force into my research.  I am glad I ended up taking an extended break from researching, because I am seeing alot of clues I missed.  And, I got the book I had put on hold at our library, so I plowed into that to make up for not being able to research.  The book is Locating Your Roots: Discover Your Ancestors Using Land Records by Patricia Law Hatcher.  I have alot of Briley Pitt County, NC deeds.  This book has already helped me to improve my reading of the deeds.  I will have a full review when I am finished reading it.

I think next week I am going to both the Historical society and the local FHS.  I really want to plow back into the deeds.
